Mia Martin grew up in Virginia’s Hunt Country and is a proud alumna of the Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia. Following her graduation, she served as a Trustee of the school and co-chaired its Centennial Celebration. She pursued her arts education at distinguished institutions across the United States, England, Italy, and Switzerland. After working at Sotheby’s in London, Mia earned her fine arts degree from American University.

With a deep appreciation for architectural and cultural history, Mia has been actively involved in the preservation of America’s heritage. She served on the Council of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and co-chaired the prestigious "Restore America Gala" at the Library of Congress. A former Trustee of Oatlands Plantation, she also contributed to the United States Commission for America’s Heritage Abroad. Her restoration projects include a historic Embassy Row mansion in Washington, D.C. (now the Embassy of Estonia) and a historic farmhouse in Virginia.

Mia’s passion for genealogy and historical research has led her to hold leadership roles in several prominent societies. She served as Recording Secretary for the Colonial Dames XVI Century, chaired its Heraldry Committee, and has been an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Pilgrim Society. Most recently, she was elected to The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

She is also the author of Dog Heraldry: The Official Collection of Canine Coat of Arms, published by Simon & Schuster and launched at the Westminster Kennel Club.
